First Shops Company saw a niche opportunity for an upscale retail and entertainment center in the port city of Aqaba in Jordan. The company conceptualized its vision in a 3-level commercial and entertainment complex at a prime location in the business district of Aqaba.
In March 2016, Engicon was awarded the project’s complete planning, architectural and electromechanical works; as well as construction supervision. Branded “Fountain Commercial and Entertainment Complex”, the 17,700 m² structure offers unique entertainment and shopping spaces to locals and tourists.
The interior architecture challenge was to create smart and appealing spaces that would offer visitors a memorable experience and encourage frequent visits. Engicon’s structural designs were approached from the perspective of an affluent customer with a worldly shopping experience. The spacial and logistical attributes of the structure were planned and designed to allow optimal efficiency, sufficiency, accessibility from and to car parking, buses, and product shipment handling.
The site features a dancing fountain, luxurious retail shops, entertainment spaces, a hypermarket, playground areas, as well as food and beverage outlets, and a business center.
